Sundry Edition

A Biweekly Newsletter by Salt of the Earth Consulting, LLC
Vol. 24 | November 29, 2023

At Salt of the Earth Consulting, we created Sundry Edition as a way to further our mission to be a trusted and beneficial partner within our community. Each newsletter includes a curated list of articles that fit a theme within the financial services industry. And, because at SOTE we each share a passion for music, we always include a few song recommendations!

Year in Review

As 2023 is quickly coming to an end, I am reflecting on all that SOTE has been able to accomplish in its second year. In addition to advising our clients on how to best navigate the ever-evolving financial services industry, I’ve also had the pleasure of being a guest speaker on a few webinars, traveled the country in support of some of my favorite nonprofit organizations, and more.

You’ll find some of this year’s highlights below, and I hope you’ll continue to stay in touch in 2024!

The Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) Collapse

This past spring, the SVB collapse instigated many important conversations about regulation and the future of financial services. Through Sundry Edition, we shared a three-part series with key insights, informative videos, and book recommendations related to the situation and its aftermath. I also spoke with American Banker’s Kyle Campbell and Barron’s Bill Alpert to share my thoughts.

Discussing the Future of Financial Services

This year, I sat down with host Rafael DeLeon to discuss my view on how to build a strong relationship with your examiner in an Ncontract’s webinar titled: How to Work with Examiners. I also participated in an SFNet panel discussion this past May where we discussed the recent call for policy changes in Washington. And, looking forward to 2024, I am excited to announce that I will be working with SFNet again at their Asset-Based Capital Conference in Las Vegas!

Giving Back to the Community

At SOTE, our mission is to be a trusted and beneficial partner within our community, and I’ve shared before how important it is to me to give back to organizations I believe in. At the beginning of this year, we shared that SOTE made a monetary donation to Operation HOPE, a non-profit organization providing financial literacy empowerment and economic education to youth and adults. This past May I traveled to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota to volunteer with the nonprofit organization Re-Member, something that I have done annually for the past four years. You can read more about my experience here. And just this month I participated in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, a 60-mile walk over the course of three days, to join in the fight against breast cancer. My three-woman team raised over $20,000, and this was my second year completing the walk. As pleased as I am to run a successful consulting firm, it is these accomplishments that bring me the most pride.
