Sundry Edition
A Biweekly Newsletter by Salt of the Earth Consulting, LLC
Vol. 11 | November 16, 2022
At Salt of the Earth Consulting, we created Sundry Edition as a way to further our mission to be a trusted and beneficial partner within our community. Each newsletter includes a curated list of articles that fit a theme within the financial services industry. And, because all of us at SOTE share a passion for music, we always include a few song recommendations!
Let’s Hear It for the Women
This week we are celebrating some of the women that serve as a catalyst for change in the financial services industry. We are remembering Ela Ramesh Bhatt, a founding member of Women’s World Banking, and recognizing Lauren Sparks and the work she has done at Agility Bank to receive regulatory approval and become the first U.S. bank primarily owned and led by women. We are also looking to the future as we read about the inspiring and accomplished women who made Barron’s Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance lists for 2022, and would like to draw particular attention to Ivy Zelman, whose insightful thoughts on the housing market we shared in a previous Sundry Edition.
Next, as a D.C.-based group, we are thrilled to have learned that the Smithsonian’s Board of Regents is narrowing down on the location for the American Women’s History Museum. And lastly, if you’re in need of a book recommendation, we suggest Before All is Said and Done: Practical Advice on Living and Dying Well by Pat Miles and Suzanne Watson. In it, Miles shares the important lessons she learned about managing her finances and trusting advisors after the sudden death of her husband.
