If you missed that newsletter, make sure to check it our here. This week, I am excited to share with you the types of resources and tools that Kathy recommends all financial services professionals be mindful of. ‘Salt of the Earth’ People…
“Knowing whose opinions to value is an integral part of navigating any industry. I had the opportunity to meet Ivy Zelman while working at the OCC and I find her prediction for the next two years to be very compelling.”

Punchy Podcasts…
Earlier this month, Kathy joined Barry Bobrow, host of Secured Finance Network’s In The Know podcast, to discuss the “inside scoop” on bank regulation.

An Inspiring Book…
“I just finished reading How We Show Up by Mia Birdsong. If you care about family and community, and have an open mind, I encourage you to read this book. I enjoy Mia’s frankness and was particularly moved by her focus on building a “family” that goes beyond our traditional view. Mia’s view of “family” is that this is the community of people that you care about, give to, and can rely on when you need support. She provides insights into techniques she has learned along the way to build this type of “family” and wisely notes that there is still healing in our country that will need to occur if we are to achieve a real sense of community. I hope that I can carry forward some of the wisdom she shares to improve how I show up when connecting with others.”

Love to read, but short on time? Blinkist is an app that offers summaries of a wide range of nonfiction books, allowing you to gain key insights in around 15 minutes. At SOTE, we highly recommend this digital tool!
…And It Never Hurts to Have a Great Playlist
“One of my favorite radio stations is The Current, which is owned by Minnesota Public Radio. The Current is one of three public radio stations in the Twin Cities and its origins date back to a physics experience in 1918 at St. Olaf College.
The Current can be found at FM 89.3 in the Twin Cities area and also online here, and focuses on “new” music and local artists. While home in Minnesota this summer, listening to The Current, I had a magical moment when they played back-to-back, two of my favorite summer songs: Music for Boys by The Suburbs and Hot Fun in the Summertime by Sly and the Family Stone.
If you prefer streaming services over radio, I recently put together a Spotify playlist of some of my favorite 1980s and 1990s songs on Spotify. See what you think of the playlist here.”
