Time Well Spent
By Gretchen Bruinsma
For this week’s Sundry Edition newsletter, I sat down with SOTE’s founder Kathy Dick to get her perspective on some of the best ways to to continue expanding your technical skills and professional community this Fall. Linked below you will find virtual webinars and in-person conferences hosted by groups with Kathy’s seal of approval, as well as ways to give back to the places and people that mean the most to you.

Mingling With Long-Established Institutions…
Giving Back…
“This Fall, I’ll be attending the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) alumni dinner. I recently joined the Board of the OCC Alumni Association because I began my career in financial services at the OCC, and strongly believe in the importance of giving back to the entities that have shaped your career.”

Being Inspired by Women in Financial Services…
Walking Forward…
“Last month I completed the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk in Boston to help raise money in the fight against breast cancer. One in eight women in the U.S. will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime and SGK does a phenomenal job of educating women on breast cancer detection and treatment. It’s an important cause to me and my family, so I’ve already signed up for next year’s walk!”

Rocking Out…
Live music is a common interest among all of the members of the SOTE team, which is why we often share artist and song recommendations in our newsletter. When asked if she had tickets to any upcoming concerts, Kathy immediately shared her excitement about seeing Del Water Gap & Arlo Parks at the 9:30 Club in D.C. on September 13th. If you are a fan of alternative/indie music these two artists are definitely worth checking out!
